Movie Rewatched: The Girlfriend Experience

I watched the film, The Girlfriend Experience, today for the second time. I loved the movie the first time but felt I needed to watch it again to fully grasp the storyline.

The 75 minute, experimental, Steven Soderbergh-directed film stars Sasha Grey, an adult film star, who plays a high class escort, named Chelsea, trying to deal with her boyfriend, job, and money. The film is shot in New York City during the economic downfall when people are trying to spend as little money as possible.

The tagline to the movie is "See it with someone you ****"
What's the four letter word? Love? Hate? Hmmmm.

Some things I appreciated more the second time around:
1) I have to say that I love the message at the end of the movie. (I'm going to try and reveal as little as possible). As one person is living it up with their denied love, the other person is left alone with their selfish emotions.
2) The soundtrack. The music in the film was really interesting. I feel it fit the mood the movie was portraying the whole time.
3) The slow-paced storyline and little dialog. Although the movie was only 75 minutes long, it told the story at a very lazy pace, which usually bores me, but kept me interested.
4) The beauty to the shots. A lot of the shots were filmed in mirrors and from different angles than normal. The dark shadows and unevenness to the views I saw were comforting.

You can watch the film on Netflix Instant.

On a side note
Sasha Grey is on the cover of the newest VICE magazine:
