Copycats

Since a lot of designers find it hard to create brand new, individual designs in the fashion industry, copycat designs happen all the time. It's one thing to reinvent the spandex pants from the 80's, but sometimes it gets crazy.

For this post, I'm gonna show a couple of my favorite or the most popular copycats I've seen. Let my know what you think about them!

Hot Topic Twilight Perfume (left) and Nina Ricci's signature bottle (right).

Alexander Wang Spring 2009 (left) and Dolce Vita Spring 2010 (right). Taken from http://www.rantingsofashopaholic.com/

Ken Jao Fall 2009 (left) and Lindsay Lohan's sketch for her new clothing label, 6126 (right). Lohan actually bought and wore the Ken Jao dress to many events. This is what happens when you let celebrities design clothing...

Topshop (left) and Chloe (right).

And the worst copycat of all? Forever 21, by far! Here are just a BIT of their copycat designs...

Forever 21 (top) and Trovata (bottom).

Diane Von Furstenberg (right) and Forever 21 (left).

Anna Sui (two left models) and Forever 21 (right).

It's astonishing.

But tell me what you think! Who does which designs better?!

  1. Hmmm maybe forever 21 is just trying to make designer clothes affordable for people by copying. But obviously the designer stuff is better quality.
